Biodegradable plastics ? Humus form plastic waste ?
We have been wondering for a long time what this is all about ?
Most bio-plastics are certified according to the outdated DIN 13432 standard.
According to this standard bio-plastics are degradable, but which plant needs them? You could also dump stones in the compost and the plants would be just as happy. There is nothing in bio-plastics that plants can use.
As a matter of fact, composting plants cannot differentiate between normal and bio-plastics. So all plastics are sorted out, bio and regular plastics – if it really works. In fact, often it doesn’t – that is why modern compost is full of small plastic particles…!
Besides, modern composting plants need about 6 weeks to convert bio waste into compost. Bio-plastics need already 6 months to disintegrate into individual parts. However, this does not mean that plastic is completely decomposed and turned into humus. This process does not create real humus, it might be at most used to fill the wall of your garage, but we couldn’t plant anything with it.
We got the real Biobased Certification!
Can you improve products that sell 34 billion times a year?
You can - if you try hard - and we have! Think out of the box and question everything!
PAPERCAPZ ® were born to revolutionize the coffee world. They surpass all bio-plastics.
PAPERCAPZ ® can be composted much quicker and transformed in humus than plastic caps because their main ingredient is cellulose. The compost flora and fauna love cellulose. Additionally, there is coffee as an excellent fertilizer.
85% waste reduction with PaperCapz® ?
10 plastic coffee capsules weigh approx. 22-25 g of plastic waste when empty. Nowadays these have an oxygen barrier.
10 paper capsules also weigh about 20-23 g. But they are really completely biodegradable. In every compost. They have no oxygen barriers. We use a fresh-keeping bag for this. This weighs only approx. 3.5 g and can be disposed of in the yellow recycling bag (in Germany) /in any recycling bin.
In proportion, you save over 20 g of plastic waste and thus approx. 85%!
The capsules fit in all Nespresso * original coffee machines from Krups, DeLonghi and Sage.
Please make sure to open the machine immediately after brewing so that the capsules can fall into the collecting container. Please make sure to empty the collecting container more often to avoid mold formation.
